A Statement of Nature

This one owes more to a joiner's bench than to a bathroom showroom. Four heavy square posts, a slab thick enough that you notice its edge from across the room, two shelf boards let into the frame, and a small drawer box hung in the middle. There is no case, no plinth, no cladding — the structure is the design, and every part of it is visible.

The counter is where the character sits. Its front edge is deeply irregular, with bark seams and open fissures running along the profile and dark weathered patches where the timber was exposed long before it became furniture. It has been flattened and finished on top and left alone at the front.

The result suits a rustic or farmhouse bathroom, a barn conversion, or a modern room that needs one rough, honest element to stop it feeling like a showroom. Two people can use it at once without negotiating for space, which is the practical reason it is built this long.

Natural Materials & Craftsmanship

Slab, posts, shelves, drawer box and both drawer fronts are Natural Solid Wood. On a trestle frame there is nowhere to hide: every component is seen from at least two sides, and the underside of the counter is in plain view from anywhere in the room.

That thickness matters structurally as well as visually. A counter carrying two filled basins across a long span needs real depth of material, and the posts are cut from stock heavy enough to take that load down to the floor without cross-bracing cluttering the open bays.

Along the front edge the shaping is minimal and deliberate. Loose bark is removed, open fissures are cleaned and stabilised so nothing crumbles in use, and sharp fibres are eased until it is safe to lean against — then the maker stops, leaving the contour, the knots and the weathered colour exactly as found.

The drawer box is fitted between the frame rails as a separate suspended element, its fronts set flush with an even gap around each. Surfaces are hand-sanded and sealed with a low-sheen protective coating suited to bathroom conditions, thin enough that the open grain still reads under a fingertip. Four tone finishes are offered — Brown Tone Finish, Walnut Tone Finish, Oak Tone Finish and Black Tone Finish — each a surface tone applied to the same Natural Solid Wood, never a species option.

Sculptural Design

Begin with the counter, because it decides everything else. It is a single very thick slab spanning the full length of the frame, flat and completely uninterrupted across its upper face. There are no basin recesses moulded into it and no tap holes pre-drilled anywhere along it. Both basins in the photographs simply stand on the surface, and the taps are mounted on the wall behind rather than through the counter — which is exactly what an uncut top makes possible. You can place two vessel basins wherever your plumbing runs, and choose wall-mounted or deck-mounted taps accordingly.

Beneath it, four square posts stand at the corners and rise the full height to meet the slab. They are the entire support structure; there is no cabinet carcass between them and no panel closing the back, so you can see straight through the frame from either end.

At the centre of that open frame hangs the drawer box. It holds two drawers, one above the other, each the same width and each carrying a single curved brass-tone bow handle. Suspended rather than floor-standing, the box leaves clear space below it and reads as a deliberate insertion into an otherwise empty frame.

Flanking the box at mid height are two short shelves, one on the left and one on the right, each spanning from a corner post to the side of the drawer box. They are open at front and back, which makes them the natural home for rolled towels and baskets that need to be seen to be used.

Lower down, a long shelf board runs the entire width of the frame from post to post, passing beneath the drawer box without interruption. It is the heavy-duty tier — a laundry basket, a stack of spare towels, a stool — and its unbroken line ties the four posts together and visually anchors the whole piece to the floor.

Versatile Placement

A double-basin piece needs a long wall, and three widths let you match it to one.

• Primary bathroom shared by two people, in the 60" or 71" width, with a pair of mirrors above.
• Family bathroom, where the long lower shelf swallows the towels and baskets that otherwise pile on the floor.
• Farmhouse or barn-conversion bathroom, where a trestle frame is entirely at home among stone, plaster and brass.
• Guest bathroom with two basins, where visible shelving means nobody has to open anything to find a towel.
• Large en-suite with a freestanding tub, where an open frame keeps the floor reading continuous beneath the vanity.

Customization

Three standard sizes are made, all sharing the same depth and height: 48"W × 18"D × 32"H, 60"W × 18"D × 32"H, and 71"W × 18"D × 32"H. All three keep the same configuration — a central two-drawer box, a shelf to either side of it, and a full-width lower shelf. The two larger widths give noticeably more counter between the two basin positions, which is worth considering if the vanity will genuinely be shared. Custom sizing may be available on request; send us your wall run and the spacing of your waste outlets and we will confirm what can be built.

Four tone finish options are available: Brown Tone Finish, Walnut Tone Finish, Oak Tone Finish and Black Tone Finish. Each names a surface tone laid over Natural Solid Wood, not a timber species. Warmer tones amplify the weathered, reclaimed-timber character of the slab and suit brass fittings; the darkest tone turns the frame graphic and lets the four posts read as strong vertical lines against a pale floor.

Natural grain and tonal variation make every piece one of a kind. The natural front edge belongs to a single board, so its fissures, knots and contour will differ from the photographs. Minor dimensional variation may occur due to the handcrafted process, and production photos or videos may be provided upon request.

Care & Maintenance

With two basins there are two zones of risk, so dry both after use. The stretch of counter around each basin base and the wall side behind them are where water collects, and standing water is the single fastest way to mark a timber top.

The natural front edge collects dust in its fissures and hollows. Clear them with a soft dry brush rather than a cloth, which will only ride over the top of the contour. If water reaches the edge, blot it dry instead of wiping across the seams.

Wipe the shelves and drawer fronts with a soft, barely damp cloth and dry them at once. Because the lower shelf sits close to the floor, keep it clear of mopping water and do not leave wet items standing on it.

Keep bleach, ammonia, solvent-based products and scouring pads well away from the timber. Feed the surfaces periodically with a wood oil or wax matched to your tone, remembering the underside of the counter and the inner faces of the posts, which are seen constantly on an open frame and cleaned almost never. Ventilate well after bathing, stand the vanity on a level floor so all four posts bear evenly, and re-tighten the frame fixings and both bow handles after the first few months.

Avoid Water & Excess Humidity
Wipe away any standing water immediately and avoid prolonged exposure to moisture. To preserve the beauty and durability of the Natural Solid Wood, do not place the product in excessively humid areas or near direct heat sources.

Protect From Direct Sunlight
Extended exposure to strong sunlight may cause the wood to fade, dry, or naturally shift in color over time. For best longevity, place the product in a cool, dry environment with soft or indirect light.

Gentle Cleaning
Dust regularly using a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners, chemicals, or abrasive materials that may damage or scratch the wood surface.

Periodic Wood Maintenance
Every 6–12 months, apply a wood conditioner or natural wax to help nourish the wood, maintain its luster, and improve moisture resistance.

Protect the Surface
Use coasters, pads, or protective mats under glasses, vases, and heavy or sharp objects to help prevent scratches, dents, or surface marks.

Inspect & Tighten Hardware
